Hiding Something

Sometimes because of pride or ego or a mistaken idea, one person may not confide in another or tell them the whole truth. Have you ever been in a situation in which you didn’t want the other person to know something about you? You had something you wanted to keep secret? How did you act? Did the other person realize you were hiding something? How did your behavior change the way they acted toward you?

Yeah I have before. I guess it didn't affect the way I acted though, because no one ever suspected anything.

Paper Towns

I've never read Paper Towns or any of the books on the list, but it sounded the most interesting so I picked it. I read a few book reviews on it, and it sounded pretty interesting. I guess it was about some guy who had a crush on this girl he was friends with as a child. And one night she came knocking on his window and asked him to come with her on this wild prank in the middle of the night. And then she didn't show up at school the next day for some mysterious reason. So he and a few other friends go on some sort of journey looking for her.

A lot of people liked it and they talked about how the characters in the story were so realistic. They said that they were the kind of people you would want to be friends with. They talked about how it was the kind of story that helped you see through someone else's eyes.

Edgar Allan Poe

It seems like reading Edgar Allan Poe stories around Halloween is a rite of passage for students in English classes. He wrote poems such as "The Raven" and "Annabel Lee" and stories like "The Tell-Tale Heart", "The Black Cat", "The Fall of the House of Usher", "The Cask of Amontillado", "The Masque of the Red Death", "The Pit and the Pendulum", etc.If you have read Poe stories before, which ones have you read and what do you remember of them? Did you like them? How scary/creepy were they? Share your memories of you or teachers reading the works of Edgar Allan Poe.If you have not read Poe or don't remember, describe to me what you expect from a classic horror writer? What kinds of stories do you think we'll be reading? Have you ever read scary stories?

The only poem by him that I have read was "Annabel Lee". I only vaguely remeber it. We did it last year in English with Mrs. Eaquinto. I think it was about some one he loved that got sick from the cold and died or something. And it talked about him like going to her tomb or something. I don't really remember... it was creepy though.

A pet's point of view

"How do you keep making the lights go on and off?" your pet might wonder. Write about you doing something in your house...from a pet's point of view.

Why do you have those funny water squirting things in the yard? They chase me! Every where I run they are always right behind me. I am barley safe from them even from the porch. What is their problem?

Dangerous Secrets

Have you ever known a secret that you thought you should tell? Did you tell? If you've never experienced this, what do you think it would be like to know a secret that you think is dangerous?

Not that I remember. I've known a lot of secrets though. People tell me things because they can trust me I guess. But I've never known a secret that I thought I should tell.Usually the stuff people tell me isn't that kind of thing.

Do you believe in Fate?

Do you believe in Fate? Are there certain things in life that, once set in motion, are inevitable; things that cannot be stopped once they are started? The story of Romeo and Juliet implies that the path of their love and what happens to them is part of Fate's plan. Do you think this is possible?

No I don't really beleive in fate. I think that You can be responsible for your future. I guess there are some things that you can't control. But we usally know the consqeunces of our choices before we make the choice, so we have, for the most part, control in our lives.

Journal Entry of Benvolio

I am trying to keep peace between the Capulets and the Montagues, but it's not really working. I don't like it.
Romeo is love sick. He won't eat or speak to anyone hardly. I am trying to get him to forget about Rosaline, but he refuses. I am going to take him to the Capulet party in disguise tonight to try to get his mind off of her.

True Love

Define true love. Do you believe it exists?
(Hint: have you ever seen it? give an example. Why do you believe/not believe in it?)

I don't really know I guess. It's pretty much love that is true.

I think it exsits. But sometimes it seems kind of rare these days.

Super Power

If you had one superpower, what would it be and why? (Hint: describe exactly what your power would be, why you would want that one, what you would use your power for, etc. Would you be good or evil? Would you use it just for fun or for a good cause?)

If I had one super power, it would probably be being able to turn invisible or something. It would be cool because you could be there and no one would even know it. You could hide from people you didn't like and stuff.

I would use it just for fun most of the time though. But maybe every once in while it might be useful.

Reading Shakespeare

What comes to your mind when you hear the words, "Now we're going to read Shakespeare!" Do you cringe in fear? Do you giggle with glee? What past experiences have you had with Shakespeare to make you react the way you do?

It sounds kind of interesting to me, because I haven't really read very much of it. I'm not like, totally THRILLED but I'm willing to try it out.

I think it will be interesting to read about, because I like stuff like that. I guess I'm one of those nerdy artsy fartsy people. But I haven't really done any Shakespeare kind of stuff, so I'm kind of interested in learning about it.

Welcome Post

This is my welcome post.
